Despite
early aspirations to be a teacher, Ann had a change of
vocation when her sister thought her beautiful enough
to send in a picture of Ann in a bathing suit to Paramount
Studios as part of a contest. The contest’s prize
was a screen test and a bit part in a movie, and when
Ann won the bit part in “WAGON WHEELS”. She
was successful and managed to 12 more films secure in
1934. Most of these were designed to showcase her beauty
along with other starlets that Paramount had signed.

Work
kept coming in but Ann wanted more. In 1938 she landed
a major role and soon known as the "Oomph Girl, becoming
one of the most glamorous women in Hollywood. Moving beyond
her beauty she began to secure major roles in more major
films and move beyond the sex symbol image. She would
eventually star alongside Ronald Regan in the 1940s and
she would make tons of moves in the 1950s. As the 1960s
came she got a major role on “Another World”,
and as she began to make the change from aging star to
movie mogul Ann died on January 21, 1967 in San Fernando
Valley, California, of cancer.
