Starting
out like many others, Beatrice began by getting regular
role on Sid Caesar's show "Caesar's Hour" for
one season in the 1950s. Beatrice has a multitude of talents,
including working on stage in such productions as "Fiddler
on the Roof". She continued throughout the 1960s
doing so, and spent the latter half of the 1960s on Broadway.
For the featured role of Vera Charles in "Mame"
she won a Tony.
Her first major recurring sitcom role was as Maude Findlay
in the show "All in the Family" (playing Edith
Bunker's cousin) who was forever driving Archie Bunker
crazy with her liberal politics. This lead to a spin-off
show called "Maude", for which she won an Emmy.

Thought
the 1970s Beatrice kept working and securing what roles
she could until the 1980s landed her the role for which
she will always be remembered; the role of the stern but
friendly Dorothy on "The Golden Girls"; a show
about four middle-aged women living in Miami, it was an
immediate hit and ran for seven seasons.
"The Golden Girls" ended when "The Golden
Girls" decided the show had run its course. Since
then Beatrice has kept a low profile and has made two
movies since; today Beatrice lives on a ranch in California.
