Cher
came onto the music scene in 1965 when she and her husband
Sonny had a hit called “I Got You Babe”. When
the hit began to fade they were given their own show in
CBS in 1971. It lasted for four years, until the two decided
to divorce. Cher later got her own talk show, which ran
for two seasons.
As the 1960s began to turn into the 1970s Cher started
to establish herself as an independent singing artist.
Between 1971 and 1973 she has three number one hits. Cher
also decided to make moves toward a serious acting career,
but even though she had several years of television under
her belt the public didn’t take interest. It wasn’t
until 1982 that she got a crucial role in the film version
of “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean,
Jimmy Dean”, having starred in a play pf the same
name in order to secure a part.

and “Moonstruck” (for which she won the Academy
Award for Best Actress in 1988). In 1989 she scored have
yet anther top selling number one hit with the song “If
I Could Turn Back Time”. Around this time Cher started
to get fire from her critics saying that she was “long
in the tooth”. Cher fired back by getting yet another
top selling album “Believe” which she made
in 1998. It wasn’t until 2004 that Cher decided
that she would like to slow down, and she started her
famous “Fairwell Tour”. Cher has been a music
