Acting
professionally since she was 16, Hilary went to Los Angeles
to become a star. Making her film debut in the movie “Buffy
the Vampire Slayer” (not to be confused with the
TV show of the same name) in 1992. “The Next Karate
Kid” followed this in 1994. Hilary then switched
back to television with a long-standing role on the teen
hit “Beverly Hills 90210”. True recognition
did not arrive until a masterful performance was delivered
in the movie “Boys Don't Cry”, taking the
lead role to new heights and really showing her stuff.
Hilary went on to win a number of honors for her work
in the film, including Golden Globe and Academy Awards
for Best Actress.
This success opened doors to new jobs, and in The Gift
in 2001 she kept up the pace. Switching to television
once again Hilary would take on gender equality issues
once more the HBO's production entitled “Iron Jawed
Angels”, made in 2003. Perhaps then “the Core”,
finished that same year, wasn’t such a good idea…
lacking integrity, a plot, and generally failing at the
box office.
