Martina
decided she like music as a child; when she was a child
her father had a band, and when she showed talent he naturally
put his daughter in the act. Eventually Martina became
a full member, and by the time she reached high school,
she was an accomplished keyboard player and was singing
on almost every song the band performed. Martina became
comfortable in front of an audience, and Martina barely
lasted one year at college before she returned home to
take up music full time. Martina moved to a larger city
to increase the probability of work; she moved first to
Hutchinson then to Wichita, starting a new band. Eventually
she ended up renting a space studio owned by engineer
John McBride, who became her fiancé four months
later.

In
1990 Martina and her husband moved to Nashville. They
worked behind the scenes for a while, eventually getting
confident enough to go out looking for something of their
own. Knowing that it was almost impossible to get labels
to listen to unsolicited material, her husband put together
a package of demo tapes, articles and photographs, and
stuffed it all in an envelope marked "Requested Material.".
Somehow it worked and by 1992 Martina released her debut
album “The Time Has Come”. By 1999 her popularity
have grown to national status and she won the Country
Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year. With
one gold and three platinum CDs, as well as a Greatest
Hits collection that has been certified Triple Platinum,
Martina is on her way to becoming Nashville music legend.
