Jessica
started singing in a Baptist church choir. At age 12 she
auditioned for the “Micky Mouse Club”; when
she reached the finals though, she froze and lost the
contest. Her talent would resurface later in the Christian
music scene when a small Christian record label offered
to record an album. She recorded a number of gospel songs
but just as they were angling for a release date, the
label went bankrupt. Trying again, Jessica worked the
Christian Youth Concert circuit for while.

Soon
her music fan base began to cross over from the “Christian
Scene” to the “Pop Scene”. This was
a signal that Jessica was talented, and soon Columbia
Records and/or Sony Music decided she was worth the time
and effort of a contract. Jessica’s debut album
“Sweet Kisses” was released in 1999, giving
way to the singles "I Wanna Love You Forever"
and "I Think I'm In Love With You." This was
followed by the album “Irresistible” in 2001,
then “in The Skin” in 2003. She was then given
a reality show with her husband Nick on MTV.
